Most of us are familiar with emails we and others send to each other. There are however other types of emails, one of which is a transactional email.
This is a type of email sent by a computer system or software to a person's inbox. This type of email usually conveys instructions or confirmations to the user of the software or system.
Example
Here are a few examples of transactional emails:
- Password recovery email
- Signup confirmation email
- Payment receipt email
- Package delivery email
Summary
Just because an email is sent by a computer does not make it a transaction email. It has to convey the state of an activity a user is performing on that system for it to qualify as a transactional email.
